On this episode, we welcome Jean Duffy, author of the new book “Soccer Grannies – South African Women Who Inspire the World”; and Rebecca “Beka” Ntsanwisi, the founder of Soccer Grannies and humanitarian.

Jean Duffy is a soccer-playing mom and nonfiction writer who has been published in the Boston Globe, the Concord Monitor, the Packingtown Review, the Somerville Journal, the Stamford Advocate, and WBUR Cognoscenti. Jean shares her story of how a group of soccer grannies in South Africa inspired her to tell their stories.

Rebecca “Beka” Ntsanwisi is a humanitarian hero who found a way to use soccer as a vehicle for change. Listen in as Beka shares how soccer changed her life, improved her health, built communities, and inspired a new generation of women soccer players. (13″)

After bringing the South Africa National Team to the Rio Olympics in 2016 and changing a few lives along the way, Coach Pauw decided it was time to turn the team over to the coaches she helped train. But with Dash midfielder and Banyana-Banyana captain Janine Van Wyk, along with friend Anson Dorrance urging her to come to Texas, it was hard to turn away from this next challenging opportunity. Patty visited Seattle on the 4th of July and there were plenty of fireworks under the Space Needle as Reign FC hosted the Boston Breakers. Laura Harvey and company welcome back Nahomi Kawasumi to the team, who has given the team a reason to play with smiles on their faces. Laura Harvey and Jessica Fishlock talk about Naho, the team’s goals and their determination to keep fighting for their rightful place in the top four.
