Episode 156: Vivyen Bowdler, Denise Duffy

https://api.spreaker.com/v2/episodes/19381768/download.mp3

Women’s World Football Show, Episode 156 features exclusive interviews with Founder and Creator of Backr, Denise Duffy; and Senior Creative at Twitter UK, Vivyen Bowdler.

U.S. Women’s National Team co-captain Megan Rapinoe inspired a generation in her recent acceptance speech for 2019 FIFA Best Player award. She said – “We have incredible platforms. I ask everyone here … lend your platform to other people, lift other people up, share your success. We have so much power!”

In this special episode of Women’s World Football Show we explore the power we all have within ourselves to be our best selves by lifting each other up, feeding our passions with positivity and changing the world!

In this episode, we feature two amazing and creative women who found a way to use their talents to help build and sustain the thing they’re most passionate about – women’s football!

Are you ready to be inspired to give your talents to live your passion? We can do it – we have the power! Let’s start now!

Denise Duffy

Denise Duffy fell in love with women’s soccer and took an analytical approach (as most software engineers do) at discovering and solving the the major problem of the game – small salaries and lack of funds for the athletes.

Denise and her team dove head first into solving this problem creating Backr, an online platform that gives athletes the opportunity to make money by using the power of their own brand; and gives fans the opportunity to support their favorite athletes. (11’)

Vivyen Bowdler

As a Senior Creative at Twitter UK, Viv Bowdler presented the idea of creating a Women’s World Cup social media campaign unlike anything we’ve seen before – one that would lift up the tournament and its footballers.

This unique campaign included the hashtag #WomeninFootball, a specially-designed emoji (created by Viv), high-quality produced spotlight videos, and beautifully painted street murals depicting many of the stars in women’s football.,

This campaign could only be created and championed by someone who absolutely loves the game and that’s Viv Bowdler! This is one interview you’ll never forget! (49′)

Episode 152: Jodie Taylor

https://api.spreaker.com/v2/episodes/18794152/download.mp3

Women’s World Football Show, Episode 152 features an exclusive interviews with England striker Jodie Taylor; Editor of She Kicks Women’s Football Magazine Jen O’Neill; and USWNT Head Coach Jill Ellis.

The game is growing all over the world, but no place faster than in England. This is thanks in part to the success of the Lionesses of England, the Women’s Super League, Championship League, and media including TV broadcasts, websites, and magazines dedicated to women’s football. On this episode, we focus on the rise of women’s football in England with featured guest England striker Jodie Taylor and editor of She Kicks Women’s Football magazine Jen O’Neill. Plus we hear from Jill Ellis on the eve of her departure as head coach of the USWNT.

Jodie Taylor

To say Jodie Taylor is a well-traveled player is an understatement. Beginning her club career with Tranmere Rovers as a youth, Jodie ventured from her home at 18 to play college football at Oregon State University. It was a hard time leaving her urban home to a remote town in the USA, but it was the start of a unique road that would lead all the way to the National Team. Jodie generously takes on her football journey with honesty, humor, and foresight.

Jodie didn’t follow the conventional path we see in most players at this level. In fact, you could say Jodie Taylor paved her own path to become one of the top players in the world and a true role model for young people to follow. This interview breaks down the mystery that is Jodie Taylor! (10′)

Jill Ellis

Jill Ellis, who led the U.S. Women’s National Team to historic back-to-back FIFA Women’s World Cup titles in Canada (2015) and France (2019), will step down as head coach following the completion of the Victory Tour in early October, 2019. Listen in as the coach tells us what she hopes her legacy will be and what her future holds.  (41′)

Jen O’Neill

Editor of She Kicks Women’s Football Magazine Jen O’Neill makes her WWFShow debut! One of the more respected voices in women’s football in the UK, Jen stops by to talk about the Lionesses, their 2019 Women’s World Cup performance, the future of the team, as well as the upcoming FAWSL and Championship, and a lot more!
