How are lower division teams in Europe existing in the wake of the big-money, big brand teams? A new women’s team in the south of Spain, PFC Málaga FC in the 5th division of Liga F in Spain is changing the model of how small regional teams operate. And they’re winning!

We talk with 25-year old striker Leire Beitia as she shares her inspirational journey growing up in Spain and playing collegiate soccer in the USA. How has her experience helped her grow as a footballer and what changes does she hope to make in the game? It’s an interview you do not want to miss. (9’)

Changing models that have been around for decades isn’t easy, but PFC Málaga FC realizes that it’s necessary in order to change and grow. We hear from Jeremy Meyer, hired to head the international operations at the club. Former CEO of United Soccer Coaches (with 30,000 members it’s actually the largest coaches association of any sport in the world) and former CMO of American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO), Lynn Berling-Manuel has recently been appointed as Managing Director the new Women’s Independent Soccer League. Lynn stops by to discuss the new league, where it fits in the landscape of pro women’s soccer and how it will change the game for young players all over the world and the communities it will serve.

The game is growing in so many ways and WISL is part of that change. Lynn shares her vision of what the WISL can become. After a lifetime of advocacy within the game of soccer, Lynn is aiming her expertise straight towards women’s soccer!

In light of the Sally Q. Yates report on allegations of past abusive behavior and sexual misconduct in women’s professional soccer, USWNT captain Becky Sauerbrunn sits down with the press to express her thoughts and give us some insights on the mindset of the players. As an influencial voice in women’s soccer, Becky has a lot to say about the report and the changes that need to be made in the game from the youth level to the pro ranks. Adam catches up with former University of Pittsburgh standout Jaclyn Poucel. After her senior season, Jaclyn found herself on the list for eligible players for the 2015 NWSL college draft. But with a deep crop of draftees, the tall center-back went undrafted. But that didn’t diminish her dreams of playing professional soccer !

In this spirited interview, the 5-foot-9 defender shares with us her journey to Finland and Iceland, as well as her experience playing for the Boston Breakers Reserves. Learning the love of the game from her mom, Jaclyn takes us through her childhood, her experiences as a young recruit, and her thoughts on the differing aspects of the women’s game here and abroad. Plus, Jaclyn gives us the lowdown on some of her favorite places in Pittsburgh! (35:56′)
