Nadine Angerer
Recognized as one of the world’s best female goalkeepers, Nadine Angerer made her debut for the German Women’s National Team in August 1996. Through the course of her international career, Nadine was a 2-time WWC Champion, 5-time UEFA European champion, 3-time Olympic bronze medal winner, and 2-time Algarve Cup champion. In 2013, she was awarded FIFA World Player of the Year, becoming the first goalkeeper – male or female to win the award.

Nadine joined the Portland Thorns FC of the NWSL as a player in 2014. A year later, she retired from playing, but stayed in Portland to become the goalkeeper coach for the team. In this in-depth interview, the amicable coach shares her experiences playing for the German team and the iconic 2007 team that won the Women’s Cup while not conceding a single goal throughout the whole tournament.

Known as a PK-save specialist throughout her career, Nadine brings us insight into some of her biggest saves, how she trained, and some of her biggest influences. Plus, Nadine shares her thoughts on coaching in Portland, Adrianna Franch, and some of the things she’s doing to become even better at the craft of coaching.

The 16-year old striker from Chilliwack, B.C. is already making a name for herself as the future of Canadian soccer. Jordy takes the time to let us know a little more about how she discovered soccer, how growing up in a competitive household helped shape her desire to be the best, and what its like to be compared to Christine Sinclair.

The 5-foot-9 (and growing!) football phenom also chats about her first cap at Algarve 2017, the USA vs Canada experience and where she sees herself after high school. We go back in time when Julie was called Johnston and played just about every position for the Broncos. After a standout career at Penn State University, Nairn was drafted in the first-ever NWSL College Draft in 2013 by Seattle Reign FC. She’s been living her dream ever since, traveling the world as a professional footballer. In this thoughtful interview, Christine shares how she discovered the love of the game and how a little girl’s dream of playing pro soccer became a reality (despite the doubters!).

Taking teams on her back and collecting fans over two continents, no one is helping to grow the women’s game more than Christine Nairn! Women’s National Team midfielder brings us back to her days growing up in Virginia Beach and how she developed her love for the game.

Anyone who has gone through the trophy hall at University of Virginia knows the name of Angela Hucles. It took 15 years for someone to come along and break a few of her all-time scoring records. Angela’s journey into pro soccer began as a member of the first-ever Boston Breakers team and in fact, scored the first goal in the history of the Breakers (in 2001 a preseason exhibition match against Duke Blue Devils).

As a member of the USWNT, Angela was a player known for her ability to come off the bench in pivotal moments and strike an impactful pose. In 2008, Angela finished the Olympic campaign tied with the most goals of the tournament and a gold medal around her neck.

Her impact on the game didn’t end there. Angela has spent her post-soccer career giving a voice to those in desperate need of one. Angela is the current president of Women’s Sports Foundation; She has worked with the U.S. State Department and You Can Play organization to help empower LGBT youth through sport; and she founded Empowerment Through Sport Leadership Series, a unique conference featuring speakers and programs dedicated to teaching leadership and healthy living on and off the pitch.

Episode 52: Emma Hayes, Rick Passmoor

Women’s World Football Show, Episode 52 features a Women’s FA Cup Final report with Chelsea Ladies FC head coach Emma Hayes and Notts County head coach Rick Passmoor; Germany WNT report with German sportswriter Jana Lange; and former Dutch player and philosopher on women’s sports studies Dr. Martine Prange.

Chelsea Ladies are the 2015 Women’s FA Cup Champions. Played at the historic Wembley Stadium in front of a crowd of 30,710 supporters, the Women’s FA Cup Final featured Chelsea Ladies vs. Notts County Ladies. Adam was among the crowd and gives us a full recap.

We hear from a very elated and relieved Chelsea head coach Emma Hayes, as her team finally brings home treasured hardware. Also Notts County head coach Rick Passmoor gives us his thoughts playing in the Final and what it means to his team and to women’s soccer.

Germany

USA vs. China

Japan vs. Australia
The defending World Cup Champions show why they continue to dismantle international teams. Mana Iwabuchi scored the winning goal in dramatic fashion after slowly, methodically and patiently carving up The Matildas. Do they have enough to clinch Back-to-Back World Cup trophies? That’s the question everyone is asking.

Germany vs. France
A quarterfinal worthy of a Final match, these familiar foes competed in what will go down as one of the all-time greatest Women’s World Cup matches of all time. We discuss the German shoot-out victory and France’s failure to walk down the aisle.

England vs. Canada
The tale of two countries. In this emotional quarterfinal, it was Canada’s nemesis coming out as the victor once again. Jodie Taylor and Lucy Bronze took it to the host team, capitalizing on Canada’s mistakes and bringing The Lionesses to advance to the World Cup semifinals for the first time in their history. We also hear Bronze talk about her game-winning goal against Norway (courtesy of FOX sports).

Semifinals
Three former champions and one Cinderella team are left in this exciting tournament. Join us as we look forward to the semifinal matches of USA vs. Germany and England vs. Japan.

Africa
