Women’s World Football Show, Episode 75 features exclusive interviews with Sky Blue FC Christy Holly; Australia sports journalist Cheryl Downes; Riga United head coach Justin Walley; and Canada head coach John Herdman.

Women’s World Football Show welcomes Sky Blue FC Head Coach Christy Holly! The NWSL’s newest head coach gives us a tour of his first months steering the ship at SBFC. WhatHolly_action has been his biggest challenge? How did his late appointment affect his preparedness entering into the 2016 season? And just what does he want to accomplish by the end of the year? We get an insider’s scoop!

The Ireland native gives us a revealing look behind the scenes of the players and coaches he has chosen to wear the NJ crest, with insights on: Raquel Rodriguez – The college draft pick who turned his head in the Women’s World Cup and College Cup; Tasha Kai – How did he “sweet talk” her into returning to New Jersey and pro soccer; Christy Rampone – Why her presence is so important to the players, coaches and even himself.

Plus, the affable gaffer talks about his newly appointed assistant coaches, Paul Greig and Jill Loyden. Why was it important to bring these coaches on board and why are they the “best kept secrets” in women’s pro soccer today? Coach Holly gives us all this and yes… even more!

AussieLogo_smallAustralia vs. New Zealand
Our friend and correspondent from The Women’s Game, Cheryl Downes is back to give us a recap of the recent Australia vs New Zealand friendlies. The “Melbourne Girl” was thrilled to actually get to witness the Matildas at-home for the “Trans-Tasman” rivalry and she gives us all her observations. Are the Matildas and Football Ferns ready for Rio? Cheryl brings us up to speed. Plus, a Kate Gill update!

Riga United
Adam sits down with Justin Walley, the head coach of Riga United in Latvia. The EnglishmanJustin_Final tells the tale of his incredible football journey that led him to creating Riga United women’s team back in 2013. In only a few short years, the club has grown along with the popularity of women’s footy in the Baltic state. The club is now one of the members of the top division of women’s football in Latvia. Justin tells us of the challenges he had in setting up the club, the struggles his footballers go through just to play, and what it takes to run a women’s club in Latvia. It’s both fascinating and inspiring.

Episode 49: 2015 Women’s World Cup Quarterfinals

http://traffic.libsyn.com/wwfshow/49_WWFShow_6_28_15.mp3

Women’s World Football Show, Episode 49 features a soundbite from Lucy Bronze; and Kehinde from Girls Talk Footy website.

And then there were four. Women’s World Football Show takes a look back at the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup quarterfinals and give a watchful eye forward to the semifinals.

USA vs. China
There’s something weird going on in America. Seems like everyone is falling in love with the USWNT again. We find out why and what did they do to disorient China? Could it all be about Amy Rodriguez and Kelley O’Hara? We figure it out.

Japan vs. Australia
The defending World Cup Champions show why they continue to dismantle international teams. Mana Iwabuchi  scored the winning goal in dramatic fashion after slowly, methodically and patiently carving up The Matildas. Do they have enough to clinch Back-to-Back World Cup trophies? That’s the question everyone is asking.

Germany vs. France
A quarterfinal worthy of a Final match, these familiar foes competed in what will go down as one of the all-time greatest Women’s World Cup matches of all time. We discuss the German shoot-out victory and France’s failure to walk down the aisle.

England vs. Canada
The tale of two countries. In this emotional quarterfinal, it was Canada’s nemesis coming out as the victor once again. Jodie Taylor and Lucy Bronze took it to the host team, capitalizing on Canada’s mistakes and bringing The Lionesses to advance to the World Cup semifinals for the first time in their history. We also hear Bronze talk about her game-winning goal against Norway (courtesy of FOX sports).

Semifinals
Three former champions and one Cinderella team are left in this exciting tournament. Join us as we look forward to the semifinal matches of USA vs. Germany and England vs. Japan.

Africa
Our friend Kehinde from Girls Talk Footy is back to give us a review of the African teams at this year’s Women’s World Cup. What did she see from Nigeria, Ivory Coast and Cameroon? And how will their results affect women’s soccer in those regions. Don’t miss this interesting and entertaining recap.
