Women’s World Football Show, Episode 198 – Features an exclusive interview with Angel City FC VP of Player Development & Operations Angela Hucles Mangano

The year 2020 is one we’ll never forget. But through it all, one ray of light was cast on women’s soccer fans when it was announced on July 21,  2020 that Los Angeles would be awarded an NWSL team.

Angel City FC was founded by an investor and ownership group that consists of actresses, athletes, influencers, and former USWNT players, including our guest Angela Hucles Mangano.

On this episode we explore the quick successes of Angel City FC, as well how they are already changing the landscape of women’s football in America, the player-focused programs they’ve implemented, their first player signing of USWNT star forward Christen Press, and more

Angela Hucles Mangano

Not the flashiest player on the USWNT in the mid 2000’s, Angela Hucles was known for her super-sub status, steady play, and going about her business in a quiet, unassuming and effective manner. Since retiring from play in 2009, Angela has continued her influence in the women’s game with the same attributes – behind the scenes and in the broadcasting booth.

Now as VP of Player Development/Operations for the most-anticipated team in the NWSL, Angela stops by to share her experience with the club, their player-focused programs, what it’s like to work with a women-owned franchise, and more.

As the NWSL struggles in the aftermath of controversies, firings and dismissals of front office staff and head coaches, Angel City FC looks to be a force of change and progress. How are they already doing this? Angela Hucles Mangano is here to share it all with us! (16′)

Plus, a look at the NWSL 2021 Championship Finals, NCAA Women’s Soccer Championships, and more!
