Former CEO of United Soccer Coaches (with 30,000 members it’s actually the largest coaches association of any sport in the world) and former CMO of American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO), Lynn Berling-Manuel has recently been appointed as Managing Director the new Women’s Independent Soccer League. Lynn stops by to discuss the new league, where it fits in the landscape of pro women’s soccer and how it will change the game for young players all over the world and the communities it will serve.

The game is growing in so many ways and WISL is part of that change. Lynn shares her vision of what the WISL can become. After a lifetime of advocacy within the game of soccer, Lynn is aiming her expertise straight towards women’s soccer!

As an influencial voice in women’s soccer, Becky has a lot to say about the report and the changes that need to be made in the game from the youth level to the pro ranks. To say Jodie Taylor is a well-traveled player is an understatement. Beginning her club career with Tranmere Rovers as a youth, Jodie ventured from her home at 18 to play college football at Oregon State University. It was a hard time leaving her urban home to a remote town in the USA, but it was the start of a unique road that would lead all the way to the National Team. Jodie generously takes on her football journey with honesty, humor, and foresight.

Jodie didn’t follow the conventional path we see in most players at this level. In fact, you could say Jodie Taylor paved her own path to become one of the top players in the world and a true role model for young people to follow. This interview breaks down the mystery that is Jodie Taylor! (10′)

Jill Ellis

Jill Ellis, who led the U.S. Women’s National Team to historic back-to-back FIFA Women’s World Cup titles in Canada (2015) and France (2019), will step down as head coach following the completion of the Victory Tour in early October, 2019. Recognized as one of the world’s best female goalkeepers, Nadine Angerer made her debut for the German Women’s National Team in August 1996. Through the course of her international career, Nadine was a 2-time WWC Champion, 5-time UEFA European champion, 3-time Olympic bronze medal winner, and 2-time Algarve Cup champion. In 2013, she was awarded FIFA World Player of the Year, becoming the first goalkeeper – male or female to win the award.

Nadine joined the Portland Thorns FC of the NWSL as a player in 2014. A year later, she retired from playing, but stayed in Portland to become the goalkeeper coach for the team. In this in-depth interview, the amicable coach shares her experiences playing for the German team and the iconic 2007 team that won the Women’s Cup while not conceding a single goal throughout the whole tournament.

Known as a PK-save specialist throughout her career, Nadine brings us insight into some of her biggest saves, how she trained, and some of her biggest influences. Plus, Nadine shares her thoughts on coaching in Portland, Adrianna Franch, and some of the things she’s doing to become even better at the craft of coaching.
