Episode 197: Carli Lloyd Special

https://api.spreaker.com/v2/episodes/47250260/download.mp3

Women’s World Football Show, Episode 197 – Features Soundbites from USWNT Legend Carli Lloyd; USWNT Head Coach Vlatko Andonovski and Defender Andi Sullivan

Tuesday, October 26, 2021  USWNT hosts Korea Republic at Allianz Field in St. Paul, Minnesota. It was a historical night because it was the final game in a USA jersey for Carli Lloyd.

With a career that spanned 17 years, 315 caps (second most capped player in world soccer history behind Kristine Lilly), and 134 international goals, (third in USWNT history and fourth all-time in world history), it’s only fitting that we dedicate a whole episode dedicated to Carli Lloyd – through her own words.

This episode gathers highlights of Carli’s final press conferences with the national team and soundbites of her WWFShow interview from 2015. What was her first camp like? How will she influence the next generation of players? What’s next? Carli answers all these questions and more. If you’re a Carli Lloyd fan, you will relish this episode! If you’re not a fan, you will be after listening to Episode 197.

We’ll also hear from USWNT Head Coach Vlatko Andonovski and Defender Andi Sullivan.

https://api.spreaker.com/v2/episodes/46716415/download.mp3

Women’s World Football Show, Episode 196 – Featuring Amy Sayer, Australia Women’s National Team and Stanford University Midfielder

The last time Amy Sayer was on our show was in 2018 when she was only 16-years old. Now all grown up and attending Stanford University in California, Amy is really making a name for herself in D1 soccer for the acclaimed university.

Amy Sayer

Born and raised in Sydney, Australia, Amy Sayer came up through the national team youth system, playing for the U17 and U20 Australia Women’s National Team. Starting academy play at only 11-years old, Amy was picked up by Canberra United of the W-League at just 14-years old. She then joined her hometown team Sydney FC before making her senior Matilda debut at Tournament of Nations in 2018 against Japan.

After graduating high school, Amy brought her game to America where she’s playing and studying at Stanford University. Now she’s embracing American culture (yes she has a hunting license!) and improving her game to be the best she can be on the pitch and off. She talks about her role model Lisa DeVanna, Women’s World Cup 2023, and more! Amy is part of the future of the Matildas and you do not want to miss this interview! (8′)

Episode 188: Damon Wilson, Carrie Taylor

https://api.spreaker.com/v2/episodes/44088607/download.mp3

Women’s World Football Show, Episode 188 features interviews with players champions: Damon Wilson, Founder & CEO of Wilson Management Alliance; and Carrie Taylor, Managing Director of the new North American professional women’s soccer league.

For many of us, women footballers are our champions. But when it comes to player support and opportunities, who are the players’ champions? On this episode we feature two of the best who have made the advance of women’s soccer their life’s work.

Damon Wilson
A former professional soccer player, Damon Wilson has spent the majority of his career outside of football, dedicated to the women’s game. As founder and CEO of Wilson Management Alliance, Damon represents women footballers all over the world. He stops by to share his experiences with us, as well as some valuable advice to young player and budding sports agents.

What kind of work goes into representing a women football player, especially when there are leagues and teams popping up all over the world. To do it right, there’s a little legal work, some psychology, and a whole lot of passion involved. If you ever wanted to know what goes into being a women’s soccer sports agent, this is the interview you want to catch! (10′)

Carrie Taylor
If you’ve been around soccer for awhile, you recognize the name Carrie Taylor! Famously known for being the first female coach of any kind in the top tiers of modern U.S. men’s pro soccer, Carrie was hired by Landon Donavan to an assistant coach to the USL’s San Diego Loyal SC.  She also served as a technical consultant for the Jamaican Women’s National Team where she helped prepare a three-year strategic plan and budget that was presented to the Jamaican Football Federation.

Today, Carrie is heading up the task of bringing a new women’s professional league to North America and she’s here to share all the details with us! In January, 2021 the United Women’s Soccer (UWS) and the National Independent Soccer Association (NISA) announced an alliance to create the new pro league. One of their first order of business, was to hire Carrie Taylor as the managing director of the league. Carrie talks to us about this role, the vision for the league, and next steps. Carrie Taylor is a ground breaker and you’ll see why! (46′)
